Change your perspective

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7
The Britannica Dictionary defines perspective as “a way of thinking about and understanding something (such as a particular issue or life in general)” Humans possess a wide range of perspectives, which can lead to social disturbances and disagreements even among close friends. Certain topics, such as politics, religion, race, and abortion, are particularly sensitive and can trigger heated debates due to differing viewpoints. Therefore, it is crucial to exercise caution when discussing these issues to avoid causing offense or conflict.
Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
God’s perspective is absolute, unlike ours, which can be varied and flawed. While respectful debate and differing opinions can be valuable for learning, God’s thoughts are always correct and supersede our own. To avoid unnecessary challenges in life, we must align our perspectives with God’s and adopt the mind of Christ. His ways are always the right ones, and we should fully abandon our preconceived notions when He speaks.
Have you ever observed a dog rise from its resting spot, spin in a circle, then settle back down with its head in a new position? The dog hasn’t changed locations, but it has shifted its perspective. Although it hasn’t moved from its original spot, it likely feels more comfortable due to this change in viewpoint. If you feel stuck in a repetitive cycle of trials and obstacles, consider shifting your perspective. Instead of repeating past actions, ask God for insight into the lesson within the situation. Perhaps God is waiting for you to learn something new before moving forward.
